The shopping center with a new owner in Joinville will have a flagship store, but it will not be a supermarket. The project was bought by the Zonta Group (Condor and Hipermais) in March, and has had department stores as its flagship store in recent decades. In an interview with CBN Joinville last Friday, the president of the Zonta Group, Pedro Joanir Zonta, informed that no supermarket operations are planned at the site, given its proximity to the Condor Hypermarket: the proposals being analyzed for the flagship store in the mall are from other sectors. However, the businessman claimed that there are no definitions regarding the shopping center because Cade's approval for the takeover is pending – the process is being analyzed by the council. Before that, there is no way to close contracts. The project purchased by Grupo Zonta was in the past known as Shopping Americanas. Carrefour had closed its supermarket operations before the sale. Now, he's shopping in Joinville. The businessman was in Joinville to participate in the opening of the new Hipermais unit in the city, located in Paranaguamirim.

A survey of consumers, especially from the South region, will help determine which sector will be served in the flagship store – three proposals are under analysis. It was also decided to increase the number of stores. “In the space that was used by the hypermarket, we will put the main store in one place and the rest will be converted into stores,” says Pedro Zonta. The mall has larger spaces for stores that continue to operate.
