Google announces the establishment of an engineering center in Sao Paulo | technology

Google announced on Wednesday (21) that it will establish an engineering center in the city of São Paulo. Creating the space is part of a partnership between the North American company and the state government.

Google says teams in the new area will focus on finding solutions to increase user protection in services like Gmail and search.

The search giant expects works to begin in the second half of this year and that the space will receive professionals from 2026.

The new center will be headquartered in Building 1 of the Institute of Technological Research (IPT), located at the University of Ciudad. The space is 7,000 square meters and will be activated by Google, one of the expected partners in the partnership.

Google says it has begun discussing the partnership with the São Paulo government in 2021. The project envisages creating a hall and spaces for events and training, while maintaining the exterior facade.

The Governor of São Paulo, Tarcisio de Freitas (Republicans), the President of Google in Brazil, Fabio Coelho, the CEO of IPT, Lady Bernucci, and the Minister of State for Science, Technology and Innovation, Vahan Agopian, participated in the announcement.
