    On February 16, 2024, the federal government will begin paying gas aid.

    This benefit aims to help the most vulnerable families cope with the continuing increase in cooking gas prices, providing assistance of R$102 per family this month.

    The gas grant, which is awarded every two months, covers 100% of the national average value of a 13-kg gas cylinder, as determined by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels.

    Who can get gas assistance?

    Families registered in the Unified Register (CadÚnico), who have a monthly income equal to or less than half of the minimum wage, are eligible for gas aid.

    This also includes BPC beneficiaries who reside in the same household.

    The payment schedule will follow the Bolsa Família calendar and Social Identification Number (NIS).

    Information about this can be checked on the Bolsa Família and Caixa Tem apps, or by calling 111.

    Rules for obtaining gas aid

    Citizens who meet the following criteria are eligible for Vale-Gás:

    – Be actively registered in the Unified Register (CadÚnico);
    – The per capita household income amounts to half of the minimum wage (606 Brazilian reals) or the total household income is equal to or less than three minimum wages;
    – Families with incomes above three minimum wages can also receive it, as long as they are included in income transfer programs from the federal, state or municipal governments;
    – The family member must have a person receiving the continuous payment benefit (BPC/Loas).

    However, the program has a limited scope. Therefore, some priority rules have been established:

    – Registration is qualified by the manager through investigation information (when available).
