WhatsApp now allows audio sent in conversations to be heard only once, and it disappears after it is turned on. The new feature follows the already existing single view of photos and videos.

This was announced on Thursday (8). According to the company, the idea is to give users more control over their privacy. The global launch is scheduled to take place in the next few days.

“Just like all your personal messages, WhatsApp protects your voice messages with end-to-end encryption by default, and the Single View feature is just another example of our continued innovation in privacy,” the company said in a statement.

How it works?

To send a single display audio, the user must tap the microphone icon and swipe up to stop recording audio. From there, simply tap the “1” icon, also used when sending single-player photos and videos.

As with these other features, you cannot forward, save, favorite, or share sent or received audio with Single View enabled. Additionally, if the person does not open the message within 14 days of sending it, the media file will not be available in the conversation.

For the feature to be available, the user needs to keep the app updated.
