UEFA announced on Tuesday (10) the two venues for Euro 2028: the United Kingdom and Ireland. This information was published during a meeting between representatives of the sites in Switzerland. Scotland and England were among 11 countries to host the last edition of the competition in 2021, while Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales have never hosted a major tournament in their regions. The event also confirmed that Türkiye and Italy are the 2032 host countries.

    Host cities

UEFA confirmed on its social networks that the two countries will host the competition and named the cities that will host Euro 2028. England will host matches in five different cities: Birmingham, Liverpool, London (x2), Manchester and Newcastle. The matches of the other four countries in the European Championship will be held in their largest cities: Belfast (Northern Ireland), Cardiff (Wales), Dublin (Ireland), and Glasgow (Scotland).

Among our confirmed venues is Wembley Stadium, in London, which was the venue for the last European Championship final, which Italy won against England, as well as the Women’s European Championship, which England won against Germany. With a capacity of more than 90,000 people, it is a prime candidate to host another final of the competition.

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (London), Etihad Stadium (Manchester), Everton Stadium (Liverpool), St James’ Park (Newcastle) and Villa Park (Birmingham) complete England’s stadiums. Cardiff will host their matches at the Principality Stadium, while Glasgow has made Hampden Park available for the competition. The Aviva Stadium will represent Dublin. Casement Park, in Belvest, will undergo revitalization works and raises doubts about whether it will be ready in time.

    Euro 2032

Italy had applied to host the 2028 tournament, but joined Turkey and were confirmed as hosts for Euro 2032. The countries proposed 20 stadiums as potential venues for the matches. Of these 20, 10 will be selected, five from each country. This decision will not be made until October 2026.

Turkey is still without a chance to host a major event, as Turkey hosted the last Champions League final, in June 2023, which Manchester City won against Inter Milan.
