Some users on PlayStation consoles recently received an unexpected message in their email inboxes.
At the end of the year, due to the expiration of the Discovery Studio license, some purchased video content will be removed from player accounts and will no longer be available at all.
“As of December 31, 2023, due to licensing agreements with content providers, you will no longer be able to watch any previously purchased Discovery content and this content will be removed from your video library. Thank you very much for your continued support.” We read in the short email.
This decision will result in hundreds of shows and movies being deleted from the Store and some players’ libraries. You can see the list of these contents here.
In fact, consumers weren’t entirely happy with this decision, which is understandable. Our increasingly digital world has its counterparts, and it is important to note that many digital content, even those you have paid for, are licensed only.
