Woman of the Year: Bruna Marquezine

Born in Duque de Caxias, a municipality in the Baixada Fluminense district of Rio de Janeiro, the young woman made her television drama debut with the character Saletti from the film Mulheres Apexonadas (2003) – which is currently being reprized in the series Valle a Pena. Ver di Nio”. The little girl’s charisma and simplicity had already attracted attention when Bruna starred in TV commercials and participated in “Gente Inocente”, a children’s program led by Márcio Garcia, in 1999. But it was in Saletti’s shoes that the star attracted even more attention. She has an expressive talent for dramatic scenes – and she is only seven years old!

Since then, while growing up in front of the cameras, Bruna Márquezine has also played characters that highlighted her comedic streak – such as Lurdinha from “Salve Jorge” (2012). She left her comfort zone and was a kung fu fighter in “China Business” (2008); She lived a historical story with Maria Augusta from the movie “Desejo Proibido” (2007) and showed the talent discovered in childhood with many other wonderful characters.

With over 40 million followers on her personal Instagram page, Marquezine is also a fashion icon and an inspiration to many with her signature looks at events — like the one she recently stole the show at one of Beyoncé’s performances on her Renaissance Tour.

In the era of streaming, the list of works has also increased, starring “Maldives” (2022) on Netflix and “O Amor da Minha Vida”, a romantic series that has already finished filming and will premiere in 2024 on Star+. But, among the recent highlights, without a doubt, the biggest has been the launch of her international career, being the first Brazilian to star in a film set in the DC universe. Along with Xolo Maridueña, who plays the film’s hero, Bruna plays Jenny and puts Brazil in the spotlight in a super entertaining production.

Around the time the film was released, the actress shared a video on her Instagram of the moment she received confirmation from John Rickard that she would be in the project. To complete the emotion of the recorded scenes, she highlighted in the caption the importance of her choice of actors: “Brazilian in a DC superhero movie?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!” ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! “am I? What?!?!?!?!?! This always seems like something very far away, especially for a girl born in the Duque de Caxias,” she wrote in the post, without hiding the mix of feelings towards her. Seeing the realization of a dream – another of theirs – come true.

So, at 28 years old and with a long journey of success ahead of him, it’s clear this is just the beginning. From here, we cannot wait to follow and praise the wonderful new achievements of the “Woman of the Year”.

This edition of the Geração Glamor Award is sponsored by Beefeater, with support from Campari, Chandon, Havaianas, Natura, Pandora and TRESemmé Brasil and with the participation of OPI Brasil and Pacco.
