The Paralympic Sports School of the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) returns to activities next Monday, the 23rd, at the Paralympic Training Center, in São Paulo. There are still vacancies to participate in the project. Simply fill in the registration form at the bottom of the page.

The Paralympic Sports School has been conceived and implemented by CPB since 2018 and aims to promote the initiation of sports for children and adolescents with physical, visual and mental disabilities, between the ages of 7 and 17, in thirteen Paralympic sports: athletics, badminton, boccia, wheelchair fencing, blind soccer, goalball, weightlifting, judo, swimming, table tennis and shooting.

The goal this year is to serve approximately 600 students per day at the CT Paralympics. In 2022, Escolinha, as the project is known, will have 436 regular students.

Alessandra Oliveira, 14, has been part of the group of students since 2018. The young woman, who had part of her upper and lower limbs amputated due to vasculitis at the age of three, started out in Paralympic sports in track and field and then migrated to swimming when she started her lessons at Escolinha.

“I’m really excited to be back in training. The clubs where I trained weren’t accessible. So I couldn’t practice what I wanted. In addition, Escolinha made me love swimming,” he commented.

In the current method, the swimmer has a history of many accomplishments in state competitions and national competitions. In the last edition of the Schools Paralympics, held in November, she won five gold medals, the same amount she won in the regional stage in São Paulo.

With the results obtained in this competition, Alessandra and seven other students from four disciplines at the Paralympic School of Sport have been invited to a special needs school camp, a project that provides young people with a high-performance routine. The first phase of the training will take place between February 5 and 11.
