The lawyers leading the legal process brought against Microsoft, by a group of 10 gamers in the US, claim they have evidence that Xbox’s strategy is only focused on one goal, the destruction of PlayStation and nothing more.
The lawyers claim they have evidence that buying Activision Blizzard had the sole purpose of eliminating PlayStation and that agreeing to the purchase would be detrimental to competition in the United States.
This is the second attempt to bring the case to court, now in an updated version according to the judge’s deliberations on the previous process, and now including Microsoft documents and even information provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment itself.
According to Axios Gaming, Thanks VGCOne of the most notable new documents to be received is an alleged internal email from Microsoft, sent by Matt Booty, the head of Xbox Game Studios, to Tim Stuart, Microsoft’s chief financial officer, which was presented as “inevitable evidence” that the purpose was to extract PlayStation from work.
Microsoft argues that email is an internal exchange and should remain sealed, and that it shouldn’t even be taken into account in court deliberations, but at the moment its content has not yet been made public.
A Microsoft representative told Axios Gaming that the email is from 2019 and predates the Activision deal, and therefore should not be taken as evidence that the merger is solely intended to eliminate PlayStation.
