– Esport in Brazil is not recognized as a sport. There was an evaluation by the Ministry of Sports about eight years ago. I accompanied a part, I was part of the council. But, in the decision, I am no longer a part of it. Today, effectively, it’s not a sport. This is an independent process for me. Anna Moser also spoke about the system at Esports Series 2023, an event organized by the International Olympic Committee that will take place in Singapore between June 22-25. For her, the initiative is justified by taking up sports that simulate traditional sports and that simulate physical activities, with the exception of shooting games or that simulate alternate reality.
– From what I know about the Olympic Committee system, this festival (organized by the IOC) is very much about the simulators. And not those electronic games with shooting competitions, bombing characteristics, which tell us little about the Olympic spirit. This is the limitation set by the Olympic system. This is reflected by the National Olympic Committee (COB). There is a structure to how the Olympic system will approach esports. Legally, this is how it works. It’s a question that’s in the Ministry of Sports but it’s broad – it started.
