Serhiy Lysak, the Dnipropetrovsk regional governor, said the region had been targeted by missile strikes and drone attacks.

“It was a very difficult night. It was noisy – the enemy launched a massive attack on the area with missiles and drones. Dnipro suffered,” he wrote on a messaging app.

The roof of a shopping mall, a house and several cars was damaged in Kiev. The governor of the Kharkiv region also reported damage to several homes and industrial facilities.

In all, 17 missiles and 31 drones were fired during the attacks. Ukrainian officials claimed to have shot down 10 missiles and more than 20 drones launched by Russia.

The attacks began around 10pm on Thursday (25th) and continued until 5am on Friday local time.

The military said Russia had changed the focus of the attacks to try to disrupt preparations for a Ukrainian counterattack.
