NASA was concerned about a massive asteroid. The object is 200 meters wide and dangerously close to the ground. At a speed of more than 80 thousand km / h, the asteroid has the potential to cause a huge catastrophe on the planet in the event of a collision.

It’s called 2023 CL3, and it’s categorized as “Earth Approach,” when a group of space rocks will pass 6.4 million kilometers away. Also, to be in the category, the rock must be larger than a certain size and needs constant scrutiny.

The asteroid is expected to pass on May 24 at a distance of just under 6 million km. It should also be possible to see the asteroid with telescopes, as it is a small distance spatially.

The US space agency is constantly studying ways to defend ourselves against meteorites that could hit us. So, it had launched a mission called the Double Asteroid Redirection Test the year before, an experiment that would prove its ability to warn an asteroid’s orbit through satellites.

Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, has expressed concern about potential rocks that could crash into the planet. So NASA took these steps. Musk said that in the future there will be a huge rock on a collision course with the Earth, and we will have no way to defend ourselves against this body.

    Conclusion

Therefore, it is possible that in the future we will have a large rock hitting our planet. Thus, NASA is studying ways to combat these harmful bodies of our world.

In addition, 2023 CL3 is one of the many asteroids that have passed and will pass Earth, and it is up to us to protect ourselves from this evil. For this, it is possible to use technological progress as a means of defense. Come to think of it, NASA managed to deflect an asteroid last year. The mission verified the ability to redirect bodies that might be on their way with us. The target was the asteroid Dimorphos, about 10 million kilometers from Earth and 160 meters in diameter.

The asteroid mentioned in the article is being monitored by NASA, because it may pass near our world. Thus, it is up to us to follow the news about the object.

Also, in March of this year, we learned that an asteroid might hit Earth in 2046. However, NASA stated that it is not a cause for concern, as the chances of it hitting us are very slim. The European Space Agency confirmed this, saying that the chances of a collision are 1 in 625. This is because space agencies deeply study the orbit of these space objects to predict the approach and possibilities of impact on Earth.

The orb was discovered by a Chilean observatory on February 26 and named 2023 DW.

NASA also stated that when new objects are discovered, several weeks of studies are required to reduce uncertainty and adequately analyze future orbits.
