One story has attracted a lot of international news attention in recent years. This is the case of a 64-year-old woman who gave birth to twins in Spain after undergoing fertility treatment.

However, what could be just a sweet motherhood story masks a painful truth, as this woman lost custody of her children.

Women fight for the dream of motherhood

Many women have to deal with difficulties when it comes to getting pregnant due to several factors, one of which is age.

This also happened to Maurícia Ibáñez, a woman who is over 65 years old, but still has the urge to get pregnant inside her. So I took the step of resorting to available medical treatments.

In this case, Mauricia, who lives in Spain, traveled to the United States, where she began treatment to get pregnant and made her dream come true. Thus, she gave birth to twins at the age of 64.

However, other circumstances caused Mauricia to lose custody of the children, which caused this woman deep grief.

According to Spanish justice, Mauritius was unable to take care of her children, not because of her age, but because of her character.

In the case, the family court’s intervention concluded that the woman had not provided a safe environment for the children. Plus, she didn’t have a support network that could help her create.

    Mother’s suffering

Since 2017, Mauritius has been fighting in court to overturn the court’s decision to withdraw custody of its children, but to no avail.

In this case, the fact that she lives in seclusion, without relatives and is already old, worries the authorities. It is believed that children will have more chances in life if they have another family.

On the other hand, this generates deep anguish for Mauritius, who is said to have been disappointed and shocked. Recently, the Supreme Court issued a final ruling to send the children up for adoption, where they are today.

Until then, no adoptive family is in sight, and in the meantime, Mauricia continues her struggle to reverse the decision.
