The following Whatsapp feature aims to improve security when using the social network software.

To access the application on the desktop, it is necessary to enter a password each time the user opens the application. This function is very useful for those users who lend their desktop computers to other people, since in this way the conversations will be more protected.

In cases where the password is lost, it will be necessary to exit the application on the PC and with the application opened on the cell phone, you will have the option to enter the program again using the QR code. To do this, point the cell phone camera at the QR code on the screen and open the application on the desktop.

It should be noted that this feature is optional, and in order for the user to use this tool, it is necessary to activate it in the application itself. This password is personal and is not shared with the WhatsApp database as it is only encrypted and saved locally.

In addition, WhatsApp developers along with Apple intend to implement these features on Apple computers, using Touch ID, a security technology developed for IOS devices.

    The future of resourcefulness

It is not new that the application provides protection options for users. It is seen that in the mobile version there is the use of layers of passwords such as PIN, fingerprint and even face password to protect conversations. As a result, Meta, the owner of WhatsApp, intends to bring this functionality to the desktop version of the app.

This ability to protect WhatsApp chats on desktop with blocking features is still under development and will be released in a future app update. We are on version 2.22.23.85 of the desktop app and this new tool is not yet live. This new feature is expected to be released in next year’s update.
