The South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) announced on Saturday (15) that the two Libertadores women’s matches that were scheduled at the Banco Guayaquil stadium in Quito, have been moved to the Rodrigo Paz Delgado (Casa Blanca) stadium, also in the capital of Ecuador. The country that has hosted the tournament since last Thursday. The change affects upcoming commitments from Ferroviária and Palmeiras, two of the Brazilian representatives in the competition.
According to the entity, the change is due to the heavy rainfall in the city and the weather forecast that it will not stop. Due to the weather and the condition of the stadium, first-round matches in Banco Guayaquil, of Independiente del Valle, were delayed. Palmeiras’ first match, for example, against Libertad Lempinho (Paraguay), last Friday (14), was interrupted in the preliminary stage. The duel between Boca Juniors (Argentina) and Defensor Sporting (Uruguay), Thursday, paralyzed for two hours.

The first Brazilian to play in Casa Blanca will be Ferrovaria, who will face Defensor on Sunday (16), at 17:15 (Brasilia time). On Monday (17th), at the same time, Palmeiras will face the IDV Dragonas (which is the Del Valle women’s team). After facing Defensor, Paulista finished the season in Group B on Wednesday, at 3 p.m., against Boca Juniors, at Gonzalo Pozo Ribalda.
Palmeiras scored, on Friday, 3-0 at Libertad Lempinho, by scoring the goals of midfielder Duda Santos (a free kick from the midfielder) and strikers Benca Brazil and Pia Zanerato, in the team’s first match in the history of Libertadores women. After facing IDV Dragons, Ballestrinas will face Universidad de Chile on Thursday (20), at 5:15 p.m., in Casa Blanca, for the third and final round of Group D. The top two places in each group qualify for the quarter-finals.
