Researchers at Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom have created A machine that uses lasers and artificial intelligence to kill cockroaches. Designed by Ildar Rakhmatulin and other scientists, the device can detect the insect with high accuracy at a distance of up to 1.2 meters.

The machine has been equipped since last year, and now in September, the study has been published in the international scientific journal Oriental Entomology.

The innovation is equipped with two cameras that send a signal to a computer, which in turn processes the location of the cockroach. then The heat from the laser can kill the insect.

They also conducted a test using a laser with a low intensity and found that in this configuration, a cockroach can fly and change direction. On the other hand, by upgrading the light equipment, the insect was finally neutralized.

“The laser system is a selective and ecological method for pest control,” says Rechmetulin. “It’s very promising.” According to him, in addition to cockroaches, the machine can be used to exterminate other insects.

Despite this, when large-scale production begins, it is not recommended to use the equipment at home. “Not suitable for home use. The laser used will cause blindness or severe eye damage.
