The C5 X is Citron’s new luxury car segment in the European market. The French company has always been well represented in this sector, but some time has passed since the launch of any car from the automaker to counter the German crack formed by the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Audi A6.

    C5 X: new Citroen

However, this time Citron bet on a different car than usual. Instead of the traditional big sedan, brimming with comfort and sophistication, the brand is betting on a car that is difficult to classify.

After all, the C5 X appears to be the union of a sedan with station wagon and SUV elements. This is because, when viewed in the profile, it is possible to see the lines denoting all of these clips.

The rear part, for example, is elongated, as is the case with wagons or SUVs. The roof has a slight curve from the B-pillar, but the rear window is tilted like a sedan. The detailed and well-protected wheel covers are another detail that makes reference to the SUV.

With these characteristics, the C5 X is 4.80 meters long, 1.86 meters wide and 1.48 meters high. The wheelbase is large, with 2.79 m separating the axles from the model. The trunk is also large, it holds 545 liters according to the manufacturer’s data.

    Mechanization

Regardless of the class, the new Citron will use gasoline engines. For now, the brand has only revealed the details of the hybrid kit. This configuration is shaped by combining the 180 hp 1.6-liter turbo fan with 110 electric hp (81 kW).

Since it is a plug-in hybrid, the model may have an electrified thrust loaded at the outlet. According to the French brand, the electric range is 50 km, with the car being able to reach 135 km / h without the need to start the petrol engine.

Sales start in Europe this year, but only in the second half. However, Citron C5 X does not have expectations to sell the model in Brazil.
