the Queen Queen Elizabeth II Buckingham Palace said Thursday that the platinum jubilee service will not attend the service of the 70th anniversary of her assumption of the throne, indicating that it has “a feeling of malaise”. “The Queen really enjoyed today’s (Thursday) jubilee parade and aerial parade, but she was a little concerned,” the note read. They added: “Given the flight and activity required to attend tomorrow’s National Thanksgiving Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty the Queen concluded, with great hesitation, that she would not attend.” The event, scheduled for Friday at the Cathedral of São Paulo, in London.

Festivities to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession began on Thursday, the second, and will run through Sunday. On the first day, hundreds of Britons took to the streets to follow the traditional parade of the anniversary with around 500 soldiers, 400 musicians and 250 horses from 70 Air Force planes, including the acrobatic Red Arrows Patrol, flying over the palace and a second appearance by the Queen, along with Along with key members of the royal family – including William and Catherine’s young children – to greet the crowd. The 96-year-old, the sixth woman in line to the British throne, has surpassed the record held by Queen Victoria, her great-grandmother, to become the first to celebrate the platinum jubilee.
