    In a statement, Buckingham Palace reported that the King was feeling a certain distress and preferred not to attend the Platinum Jubilee Mass scheduled for Friday.

    Festivities to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession began on Thursday, the second, and will run through Sunday. On the first day, hundreds of Britons took to the streets to follow the traditional parade of the anniversary with around 500 soldiers, 400 musicians and 250 horses from 70 Air Force planes, including the acrobatic Red Arrows Patrol, flying over the palace and a second appearance by the Queen, along with Along with key members of the royal family – including William and Catherine’s young children – to greet the crowd.
