The The first solar eclipse of the year Last Saturday (30), but unfortunately it was not visible in Brazil. But our neighbors at the southern tip of our continent were able to witness the event just before sunset. And of course, some took amazing photos!
A solar eclipse occurs in the new moon phase, when the natural satellite is perfectly aligned with the Earth and the Sun. Coincidentally, the Moon is close enough to us that its apparent small diameter is exactly the same as the Sun – even though the Moon is actually 400 times smaller than our star.
However, this was a partial eclipse, which means that the moon only crossed part of the solar disk. A partial eclipse may not look as impressive as a total eclipse – when the moon completely blocks the sun – but the event occurred when the sun descended towards the horizon and painted the twilight sky orange. This provided really amazing pictures.
