Despite the controversy after a video was published showing French defender Kurt Zouma attacking a cat, West Ham coach David Moyes chose the player from the start in the 1-0 win over Watford last Tuesday (8).

The fact angered the fans who booed him throughout the match and the debate continues in the UK.

And in the face of the negative repercussions on the player’s use after the incident, Hammers became apparent and confirmed that he was removed and fined with a two-week salary of 250 thousand pounds (about 1.8 million riyals), which is money that will be donated to animal charities.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which promotes animal welfare, confirmed that it had taken Kurt Zouma’s cats from him, and revealed that it was investigating the case even before the video was circulated on social media.

“They have been taken for examination by vets and will remain in our care while the investigation continues,” she added.

One of the club’s official sponsors, Experience Kissimmee, said they would “establish our relationship and sponsorship with the club” after Zuma was selected for the match.

Even the mayor of London spoke out about the issue and expressed disappointment with the West Ham boss who said in an interview that he gave his best on the field, and did not want to go into the controversy involving his defender.

Mayor Sadiq Khan said: “I’m disappointed in David Moyes and West Ham. I know how important the three points are, but I think they should have shown leadership and brought him down last night.”
