Kingsley joined the MCU at iron man 3 (2013), in what promised to be the film version of Mandarin’s villain. However, it was later revealed that he was just an actor set to play Mandarin and hide the actions of the real villain, Aldrich Killian.

It is also worth noting that the actor was in the official short film long live the king, where he was kidnapped by a man who works with Mandarin – and claimed he wasn’t happy to be played by someone else. Kingsley’s participation in the new film remains a mystery.
