This month, the central bank issued new rules for using PIX that will come into force in early 2023. Among these updated rules, there is one that no longer requires a trading limit, which according to experts, could bring more risks to users.

Banks, based on these new rules, will not be required to set a limit on the value of each transaction, and will only set a limit for each time period. This way, for example, people with a daily limit of R$3,000 can use the entire amount in a single transaction. Read and understand the controversy.

    How were the PIX rules?

From now on, banks will be able to set the night period when the client will be able to request a reduction in the limit. Generally, the change is made between 20:00 and 06:00, but it is possible that banks give the customer the possibility to change between 22:00 and 06:00.

These changes are intended to adjust the limits generally available at ATMs for traditional withdrawals. The central bank said in a note that it also encouraged changes to the Pix regulation, among other operational improvements, to make it easier for funds to be received by correspondent banks through Pix, as is already happening with lotteries, and to allow the payment of salaries, pensions and pensions. .

What changes for those who use PIX

According to banking law specialist Marcelo Godecki, these changes made by the Central Bank have both a good side and a bad side. With this digital computation, operators can turn their mobile phones into card machines.

So the advantage is increased flexibility. If you need to send a larger shipment, do not set limits in advance. Now, this increase in freedom can have negative consequences associated with the potential for increased fraud.

In terms of transaction times, the expert says that these changes are generally good, however, since there are many scams involving PIX, the possibility of an increase in the amount of money lost in these scams is also greater. Change is good because it increases flexibility, freedom, etc., but it also increases risk.
