    United Kingdom – Shares closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index rose 0.52% by Investing.com.

    United Kingdom – Shares closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index rose 0.52% by Investing.com.

    Investing.com – United Kingdom equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and , and sectors propelled shares higher.

    By London's close, the index was up 0.52%.

    The best performers of the session on the index came from stocks Antofagasta PLC (LON: ), which rose 2.93%, corresponding to 63.00 points, ended the session trading at 2.00. Meanwhile, stocks Fresnillo PLC ( LON: ) added 2.68% or 15.50 points to trade at 593.00 at the end of the day, and Sage group PLC (LON: ), which advanced 2.41% or 25.00 points to settle at 1.00.

    The worst performers of the session were stocks Vodafone Group plc (LON: ), which declined 5.79% or 4.44 points to trade at 72.20 at the close. National grid PLC ( LON: ) shed 4.17% or 37.60 points to 864.00 and WPP PLC ( LON: ) shed 3.45% or 27.80 points to 778.80.

    On the London Stock Exchange, gainers outnumbered negatives by 934 to 786, while 761 ended unchanged.

    Gold futures for August delivery were up 0.74%, or 17.65, at $2.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.11%, or 1.56, to settle at $75.63 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for delivery in August were up 1.95%, or 1.53, to trade at $79.94 a barrel.

    GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% at 1.28 and EUR/GBP was up 0.22% at 0.85.

    The dollar futures index, meanwhile, rose 0.02% to 104.21.
