    United Kingdom – Shares closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index advanced 0.51% by Investing.com.

    United Kingdom – Shares closed the session higher and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index advanced 0.51% by Investing.com.

    Investing.com – United Kingdom stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and , and sectors propelled shares higher.

    At the London close, the index was up 0.51%.

    The best performers of the session on the index came from stocks JD Sports Fashion plc ( LON: ), which rose 5.22% or 7.40 points to trade at 149.25 at the close of trade. Meanwhile, stocks B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:) added 3.08% or 13.50 points to end the day at 452.50, and Antofagasta PLC (LON: ), which advanced 2.68% or 49.00 points to settle at 1,878.00.

    The worst performers of the session were stocks Melrose Industries plc (LON: ), which declined 7.10% or 36.30 points to trade at 474.70 at the close. Sage group PLC (LON:) shed 2.00% or 20.30 points to 996.20 and Relx PLC (LON:) shed 0.60% or 21.00 points to 3,499.00.

    On the London Stock Exchange, 1,155 to 600 advancers outperformed the losers, while 719 ended unchanged.

    Gold futures for December delivery were up 1.06%, or 26.70, at $2,543.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude for October delivery rose 2.47%, or 1.80%, to settle at $74.81 a barrel, while Brent crude for October delivery rose 2.31%, or 1.78%, to $79.00 a barrel.

    GBP/USD was up 0.82% to 1.32 and EUR/GBP was up 0.21% to 0.85.

    The dollar futures index, meanwhile, rose 0.67% to 100.72.
