LONDON – Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe at the World Health Organization (WHO), said that the Covid-19 vaccines used today in fighting the epidemic in Europe appear to be able to protect against all the prevalent and worrisome variables. This Thursday.

Kluge said health officials should remain vigilant about the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the region due to a variable emerging in India, but stressed that vaccination and infection control measures will help prevent its spread.

“All types of Covid-19 virus that have appeared so far actually interact with the approved vaccines available,” Kluge said at a press conference.

Countries across Europe are distributing vaccines from many laboratories, such as Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson.

Since it was first identified in India, the newest form of anxiety, called B.1.617, has now spread to at least 26 of the 53 countries in the WHO’s European region, Cluj said – “from Austria to Greece.” Israel and Kyrgyzstan. “

“We are still learning about the new variable, but it can spread quickly,” he explained, adding that it could, in theory, spread quickly enough to replace the other variant known as B.1.1.7, which first appeared in the UK. At the end of last year and since then it has become the dominant version of the virus in Europe.

Kluge said that the WHO regional office is cautiously hoping to see a reduction in the Covid-19 epidemic in the region.

“We are heading in the right direction, but we need attention,” he said. “In many countries, there are pockets of increasing transmission that could quickly turn into a dangerous comeback … the epidemic is not over yet.”
