    US, French, German and British leaders this Sunday demanded the swift dispatch of inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, Europe’s largest, to the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine, which has been occupied by Russian troops since March.

    US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron, German President Olaf Scholz and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke on the phone.

    According to Scholz’s spokesman, the four leaders agreed to quickly send inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to the plant, where fighting between Russians and Ukrainians has escalated, raising fears of a nuclear disaster. Occurred in 1986 at the Chernobyl power plant.

    On Friday, Emmanuel Macron, his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, at the UN. Zaporizhia said it welcomed the visit of inspectors from the agency, the IAEA, to the plant.
