Gaming and technology company GamesCare has just announced the GF1 Neptune, a video game console developed entirely in Brazil. Using Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) technology, the platform developed by GamesCare combines the capabilities of the classic Mega Drive and 32X hardware into a single device, providing full compatibility with accessories such as the Sega CD, controllers, cartridges and new peripherals to be announced in the future.
The Brazilian public will not have to wait long to learn more about the new device. The GF1 Neptune console will receive a dedicated presentation detailing its functions and project features during Gamescom Latam on Sunday, June 30 starting at 12:50 PM (Brasilia time) live from the Quest stage.
The device has an HDMI connection to deliver 1080p resolution and digital audio, an SD card slot, high-speed wireless connectivity, and a Sega CD and “Future Accessories” And analog audio and video output that promises high quality.
The GF1 Neptune comes with the promise that it will perfectly run timeless classic games, as well as offer its exclusive services through its own system network. The console also serves as a friendly platform for creators to express their talents and ideas, especially in the indie game development scene.
The console will also feature community-released games, many of which are available for free, with GamesCare ensuring that there will be easy support for developers, creating SDKs and easy access to devkits.
To celebrate the announcement of GF1 Neptune, which does not yet have a specific release date, national studio Versão Ltda is developing an unprecedented game that will be revealed during a special presentation at gamescom latam. Furthermore, the console will allow digital games to be purchased through an online store, offering exclusive titles already in development.
