The Economist Intelligence Group associated with the British magazine The EconomistIn early December, it published its annual list of cities with the highest cost of living. In the lead are New York and Singapore, which have held the lead for eight years. The cheapest cities among the 172 analyzed are Damascus (Syria) and Tripoli (Libya). Moscow and St. Petersburg, Russia, jumped the highest in the rankings as a result of the invasion of Ukraine.

The city with the highest inflation rate is Caracas, Venezuela, where prices have increased 132% since last year. Caracas was excluded from the accounts of The Economist Intelligence because its rate of inflation is so high that it causes an imbalance in the general ledger. Other cities with high inflation rates are Istanbul (Turkey), Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Tehran (Iran).

These are the 11 most expensive cities in the world, according to the Economist Intelligence poll:

    1. Singapore, Singapore)
    2. New York (USA)
    3. Tel Aviv, Israel)
    4. Hong Kong – Hong Kong)
    5. Los Angeles (USA)
    6. Zurich (Switzerland)
    7. Geneva (Switzerland)
    8. San Francisco (USA)
    9. Paris France)

    11. Sydney, Australia)
