On the world stage, Brazil gained international recognition through an unexpected figure: Bill Gates, the famous founder of Microsoft. Recently, Gates expressed his enthusiasm for the tropical country on his blog, highlighting the remarkable development, especially of Brazil's healthcare system.

When analyzing the unified health system, Gates was full of praise, saying that “the rest of the world has a lot to learn” from the approach adopted by Brazil. The billionaire businessman acknowledges the significant investments made in SUS, highlighting it as a positive example worth emulating.

Another point that did not escape Gates's watchful eyes was the program Bolsa FamiliaWhich, in his opinion, “deserves appreciation.” He stressed that over the past few decades, social programs such as Bolsa Familia have played a crucial role in raising nearly one-fifth of Brazil's population above the poverty line.

Moreover, he highlighted its contribution in expanding access to healthcare, encouraging people to join the healthcare system and thus reducing the infant mortality rate.

In the words of his blog, Gates shared his positive outlook: “With the right mix of investment and innovation, Brazil has made great strides toward becoming a healthier place for its people.”

If the country stays on this path and continues to do what it already does well, and if other countries follow this path – or simply chart their own paths with Brazil as a reference – we will also have a healthier world.

The path to a healthier world

Honoring Bill Gates not only highlights Brazil's successes, but also launches a global challenge. When Gates praises Brazilian progress and initiatives, he suggests that other countries consider following suit or following paths inspired by Brazil's achievements.
