a The official diary of the union It publishes, Thursday (15), Temporary Procedure No. 1144 of December 14, 2022, which opens an exceptional credit in favor of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, in the amount of R$ 7,564,496,198.00.

According to the Ministry of Economy, the amount will be used to pay social security compensation expenses and benefits from the General Fund of the Social Security System, of which R$5,778,175.00 will be allocated to the benefit area and R$1,785,023.00 to pension compensation.

The ministry says that “the deputy observes the requirements of urgency and unpredictability required by the Constitution, as there has been a growth with these characteristics in spending, which has resulted, among other factors, from the recent removal of application queue restrictions.”

According to the filing, the interim measure signed by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, is also consistent with the recent understanding of the Federal Court of Auditors (TCU), which “indicates as a condition the unpredictability of expenditures, when insufficient allocation can lead to mandatory spending stops. Spending on social security has this character, and its interruption may lead to losses for the beneficiaries.”
