In an official statement posted on the group’s website, the G7 said that the UK, for example, intends to establish a new center to develop vaccines that prevent the spread of diseases from animals to humans.
According to the organization, the discussions on global health scheduled for today should include, in addition to leaders, authorities from South Korea, South Africa, Australia, India and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, among others. “Pai will outline the measures that the G7 countries will take to prevent a future epidemic. including reducing the time needed to develop and licensing vaccines, treatments and diagnostics for any disease in the future to less than 100 days, a commitment to strengthening surveillance networks and genetic sequencing capacity, and support for the reform and strengthening of the World Health Organization.”
