A couple living in Spring, Texas, in the United States, were woken up by Axel, a one-year-old border collie, at 5 a.m. on Saturday morning. By scratching his owners’ faces, the dog tried to get their attention so they could follow him. Daines Tanner went down to the ground floor of the house and opened the entrance to the backyard, but the pet didn’t want to leave. In fact, he went up to the room of Gabriel, the couple’s 17-year-old son, and started scratching the door.

The man examined the teen and realized something was wrong, as the boy couldn’t speak properly and couldn’t feel the right side of his body. That’s why his family took him to the hospital. Gabriel was having a stroke.

The dog’s warning made a “huge” difference in the boy’s outcome, says Subih Efendi, a neurosurgeon and medical director of stroke at Memorial Hermann Woodlands Medical Center.

“It’s amazing that their dog alerted him and started this whole process of getting everyone up and going downstairs. When someone has a severe stroke, the neurons die. If he’s not found and another three or four hours go by.” “There could have been more and more brain injuries,” he explained to. Today.com.

He explained that he went to sleep around midnight, but woke up around five in the morning and his right arm was numb. He went into the living room and fell down. Axel ran to call his parents, while Gabriel got up and returned to the room. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong,” he said.

The teenager received medical assistance and has already regained movement in his right arm and is at home. Since his return, the family said Axel follows him around the house and sleeps in his room, rarely leaving his side.

“We hope he can go back to school and play soccer soon,” Amanda Tanner, Gabriel’s mother, tells R7.
