Buenos Aires has been named the best city in Latin America to study in, according to the QS 2024 rankings. The Argentine capital achieved 42nd place globally out of 150 destinations evaluated by British consulting firm QS Quacquarelli Symonds.

The ranking takes into account several indicators, such as student opinion, quality of academic institutions, accessibility, livability, job opportunities and diversity. To appear on the list, each destination must have a population of at least 250,000 and two universities in the World University Rankings.

In addition to Buenos Aires, other cities in Latin America also featured in the ranking:

    • Santiago de Chile (47th place)
    • Mexico City (69th)
    • Sao Paulo (97th)
    • Bogota (90th)
    • Monterrey (96th)
    • Lima (112th)
    • Rio de Janeiro (138th)

The University of Buenos Aires (UBA) was a key factor in the city’s leadership, ranked as the best in Latin America and 71st in the world. UBA stood out in academic reputation, proportion of international professors, international research, employability and sustainability.

The global ranking of the best cities to study in the world has placed London in first place for the sixth year in a row, followed by Tokyo, Seoul, Munich and Melbourne. Sydney, Paris, Zurich, Berlin and Montreal complete the global top ten.

Not only does this ranking recognize the most student-friendly destinations in terms of academics and quality of life, it also highlights the growing importance of Latin American cities in the global education landscape.
