    After many observations, predictions and speculations, Citroen to choose Rio Innovation Week 2024 To show off the new Basalt. The coupe SUV was part of Stellantis's display during the event, the largest technology fair in Latin America and taking place in Rio de Janeiro (RJ) until Friday (16). However, the brand only showed the car from the outside (and camouflaged), without allowing any access to the interior. No official statements have been released either.

    Basalt is part of the C-Cubed family, along with its C3 and Aircross – Also on display at the show. The model, which has already been launched in India, will arrive here this semester. Based on the CMP platform, it measures 4.35 metres in length, 1.76 metres in width, 1.59 metres in height and has a wheelbase of 2.65 metres. It has a 470-litre boot. The fuel tank is 45 litres.

    It is not yet known in detail which versions will be here and what their contents will be. However, its cousin's competitor Fiat fastback and Volkswagen Nivus It should feature a 75hp 1.0 Firefly engine and a five-speed manual transmission in entry-level versions, in order to offer more affordable options to the consumer. However, the more expensive configurations will come with a 1.0 Turboflex engine with up to 130hp and 20.4km/h (from Fiat StradaPeugeot 2008 and Co.), in addition to a CVT transmission that simulates seven speeds.

    In addition to the Basalt, the 2024 edition of the event also highlights the small Citroën Ami Buggy. The compact electric vehicle is 2.41 meters long and has an 8 hp engine. Its autonomy range reaches 80 km. According to Stellantis, the Ami has its own cable, which can be connected to any 110 or 220 volt outlet. In this way, recharging from 0 to 100% takes less than four hours.
