Eight assistant athletes and two technicians from Minas Gerais benefited from the “Bolsa Atleta” and “Bolsa Técnico” programmes, presented by Minas governmentduring State Secretariat for Social Development of Minas Gerais (Sedese-MG) and the Sub-Secretariat for Sport (Subesp), have been called for the 2023 FIBA Paralympic Swimming Championships. The competition will take place in Manchester, UK, between 31/7 and 8/6 (see full list at end of text).
The swimmers and coaching staff are from Club Praia, from Uberlandia, a club that trains athletes from Triangulo Mineiro who were among the key players in the call made by the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB), on 5/29.

On the eve of the World Cup, the preparation period for para-athletes continues in full force. 15 days ago, they triumphed with good indicators on the Paralympic circuit in São Paulo, the competition used to prepare for the dispute in Manchester. The highlight was the Tokyo Paralympic medalist, Gabrielzinho (Gabriel Giraldo), as coach Fabio Antunes explained.
“The national stage of the Loterias Caixa circuit was the last chance for the athletes to validate the indicators for the World Championships. Since Gabrielzinho had already validated the indicators in the Open Internacional de Natação, we used the event to make some adjustments and test some test strategies. It was an event with great results. Gabriel won as the highest technical indicator. I, as a coach, won the highest technical indicator. Praia came as the best club in Brazil, in addition to many other achievements that we have achieved, ”Antones confirmed.

In terms of general policies of Sedese-MG, the “Bolsa Atleta” and “Bolsa Técnico” programs financially support athletes, para-athletes and coaches who work in the Olympic Games, Paralympics and some non-Olympic sports.
The program helps defray the expenses of registration for competitions, tickets, accommodation, food for sporting events, transportation, and the acquisition of materials and equipment for training athletes, as well as training courses for coaches.

The technicians are Alexandre Silva Vieira and Fabio Pereira Antunes.
