    a Lenovo The Institute of Technology Research (IPT) has signed a partnership to develop a modified operating system based on the Linux platform. “Lux”, the name given to the software, has the advantage of bringing two almost extinct native languages into the settings and several accessibility features for users.

    According to the information, the system is compatible with more than 13 laptop and notebook models from the Chinese brand and can be found in models such as the Lenovo AMD Ryzen 5-7520U (82X5S00100), for example. With a focus on inclusivity, Lux fully supports Nheengatu and Kaingang languages – these languages are also available on Motorola smartphones.

    As the researcher explains Leandro AdvanceThe Nhinjatu language numbers about 40,000 in the northern region of Brazil, while the Kainjang speaks about 50,000 in the southern region, both of which are considered at risk of extinction and must be preserved based on measures adopted by both the federal government and private companies.

    “The new system has adopted current good practices of the Debian platform distribution, including functionality that does not yet exist even in other Linux distributions,” explains researcher Leandro Avanco, Technical Director of the IoT and Embedded Systems Department at IPT.

    See the program interface below:

    Lenovo Lux was launched at the end of 2022 and has since gained a greater number of users, benefiting those who are looking for the benefits of Linux along with additional benefits thanks to the partnership with IPT.

    • Easy access to software and driver updates;
    • Secure boot against viruses and malware;
    • Improved optimization of resource management.
