In a letter, King Charles III congratulates Lula and wishes to strengthen the partnership between Brazil and the United Kingdom.

Charles III addressed the President’s visit to COP-27 in November. After the second round of elections, Lula gave a speech on climate change at the United Nations (UN) conference.

The king said he felt “encouraged” to hear that Lula “stressed the urgent need to address the climate crisis during your victory speech and at COP-27”.

“It reminded me of my trip to the Amazon in 2009, where I witnessed firsthand the terrible effects of deforestation and climate change on rainforests and indigenous peoples and communities,” King said.

“I look forward to continuing to strengthen cooperation between Brazil and countries around the world on issues that affect us most deeply.”
