On Friday (21) Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) granted the first permission to product delivery With a drone in Brazil. Permission has been granted to drone maker and operator Speedbird Aero, which has a partnership with iFoodIt is second only to the delivery company.
According to Anak, the measure “allows drone deliveries to become a reality in the country, for the transportation of food and other products.” The drones can carry payloads of up to 2.5 kg at a distance of 3 km, even in urban areas.
iFood claims to have started Drone use project two years ago, with feasibility tests in different regions.
The first certification was obtained in 2020 with test flights at Shopping Iguatemi in Campinas (SP), with more than 300 deliveries from 20 partner restaurants. Last year, an experiment was conducted in Sergipe on a 2.8-kilometre route across the Sergipe River, from the Rio Mar Aracaju shopping center to the municipality of Barra dos Coqueros.
The company says it has now begun, with permission for commercial use, to plan to expand the technology to other cities. The model will continue to be treated as complementary to the work of couriers, i.e. it will not be applied to a large scale and scale compared to the traditional operating model. The person doing the delivery is the person who receives the order that comes by drone at the droneport, which is where the plane lands, and takes it to the customer.
According to iFood, delivery by drone requires specific areas, for example, in Aracaju, which crosses a river and connects two municipalities.
