Huawei has invested heavily in developing advanced machinery that can produce chips at 5 or 3 nanometers. To this end, the company expanded its campus by constructing new buildings in Shanghai.

As multiple sources have reported to Nikkei, the new R&D center will be used not only to develop these machines, but also to assemble them.

In practical terms, Huawei wants to enter into a dispute with ASML, Canon, and Nikon, as it can no longer buy machines from these companies to produce its own chips.

Currently, the construction of new buildings has reached an advanced stage and these new machines are being developed at Huawei's main campus, which is in Shenzhen.

The total investment in the initiative exceeds US$1.6 billion, and Huawei's new facilities are expected to have an area equivalent to 224 football fields to accommodate up to 35,000 employees.

Moreover, Huawei has already started hiring people to work on assembling machines, and the company has offered higher-than-sector average salaries and a series of benefits to even attract talent from abroad.

However, the US government prohibits US citizens or US engineers with green cards from working with the Chinese, which limits Huawei's offerings to those who live in China or are willing to give up everything in the West.

At this time, Huawei has not commented on the matter.
