    This feature allows you to hide a chat from the main WhatsApp screen, which is “moved” to a secure folder called “Protected Conversations”.

    The company said: “The feature is great for those who need to share the phone with a family member or for those times when someone else is holding your phone at the exact moment a private message arrives.”

    How to protect your WhatsApp conversations

    1. Open WhatsApp and tap contact or group name;
    2. Then press Conversation protection (chat lock);
    3. Activate the chat blocking method: “Lock this chat with your fingerprint/password”;
    4. Then confirm the protection by entering the cell phone password or biometrics (fingerprint or face);
    5. Now to view the hidden conversation, slowly swipe down the input box and enter your password or biometrics.

    According to the company, when activated, the function also automatically hides the content of the protected conversation in notifications.

    At the moment, it is not possible to customize the password that protects your chats, but the company has already said that soon, it will be possible to specify credentials for each chat.
