Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (a map) decided to recall four batches of the beans nationally, Da Mamãe and Sanes brand, which were determined to be unfit for human consumption. Rotting beans have been found in the Federal District and Rio de Janeiro.

    The affected batches are:

    • 51 mother bean color.
    • 06 Mama’s Black Beans; that it
    • 030423 and 080323 of Sanes Black Beans.

According to Mapa, these products contain more than 15% moldy and burnt kernels, which can endanger consumers’ health.

“These grains may contain mycotoxins that are harmful to the body, cause food poisoning and allergic reactions,” explains Hugo Caruso, Director of the Inspection Division for Plant Products.

    map process

The batches of beans were identified in an earlier process by Mapa, which resulted in the seizure of more than 150 tons of the beans in Rio de Janeiro. After laboratory analysis, it is confirmed that the products do not meet the quality and safety standards required for human consumption.

“Consumer safety and health are Mapa’s priorities, and it is on alert to prevent similar situations from occurring in the future,” the director reports.

    Consumer Guidelines

According to the ministry, it is extremely important for consumers to be attentive and carefully check the packaging of products before purchasing them.

If consumers find any of the four batches of beans being sold, the map instructs them to report it immediately.

The complaint can be submitted through the Ministry’s service phone number (61) 3218-2089 or through the consumer protection agency’s service channels.

The Agriculture Volume also notes that consumers should check if they have any packages of beans from the mentioned brands and batches in their homes or restaurants.
