On Sunday morning, Giovanni dos Santos of Minas Gerais, in a heated feud with Tanzanian Sidi Makula, won the Elite Men’s podium finish. He completed 21,097 meters through the streets and roads of Sao Paulo’s second largest city with a time of 1h06min27 and just one second off his opponent, who finished the race with 1h06min28. Third place went to Gelson Conceição from Bahia, with a time of one hour, seven minutes and 29 minutes.

In the women’s class, Kenya’s Janet Masai, who was this year’s runner-up at the Porto Alegre Marathon, underlined her good stage and preference in the race with more calm. She achieved a strong rhythm and won the title by clocking 1 hour 15 minutes 50 minutes, nearly four minutes ahead of Jessica Soares, of Minas Gerais, 1 hour 19 minutes 45 minutes. The third place went to Andrea Heysel from Sao Paulo, with a time of 1 hour 21 minutes and 11 minutes.

Guarulhos’ entry at the country’s grand international half-marathon circuit was in style. On a sunny Sunday and a pleasant temperature, about 3 thousand runners, divided into races of 21 km, 10 km and 5 km, showed enthusiasm. And to crown a debut, nothing is better than having a Brazilian as the champion. The work of all involved was successful and the dispute was already confirmed in July 2023.
