Students whose studies have been funded by the Education Fund (Fies) renegotiate their debts with discounts of up to 99% with the new Caixa Econômica Federal application.
The new tool is available for download as of last Thursday (01/09). Through it, in addition to renegotiation, users will be able to follow all contract data and other services.
The goal is to collect all information related to the contract with FIES in one place. Through the app, students will also be able to create vouchers to make it easier to pay off debts.
FIES . Application
The federal government set debt renegotiation rules in July. Thus, anyone interested in taking advantage of the discounts should seek renegotiation until December 31.
According to Caixa Econômica, more than 1.85 million students will benefit from using the tool. The platform allows easy access to debt renegotiation, with simulation capability. According to government rules, the time for delay in payment is taken into account.
This is because those with 90 days overdue financing installments will receive a 100% discount on interest and fees, plus 12% on the principal amount of the cash payment. However, the rule does not apply to payments in installments.
Students who are more than one year (12 months) late, provided they received emergency assistance last year or are registered with Cadastro Único (CadÚnico), will receive a 92% discount on the cash payment.
Those who have overdue installments of more than five years, but are in the same circumstances regarding receiving assistance and registering with CadÚnico, will receive an increased discount to 99% in cash payment.
It is worth noting that all these conditions can be checked in the FIES application.
Conventional payment of FIES
Usually, the ticket arrives at the address given by the student. However, if it does not, you will have to print a duplicate of the FIES voucher. See how to do it below.
Federal Savings Bank:
- access to the Caixa website;
- Enter your CPF number and date of birth;
- Fill in the “Verification Code” field and click “Start Process”;
- Click “Open tickets”, ready, just print.

Bank of Brazil:
- access to the Banco do Brasil website;
- Click “Products and Services,” and in the “People” list, click “You.”
- Select the option “2ª boleto method or expired update”;
- Complete the information as necessary.

Finally, it is worth noting that FIES tickets can be paid at banks, lotteries, online banking or ATMs.
