With the advancement of technology, online purchases are becoming increasingly common. This habit gained even more strength after the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. First and foremost, consumers are looking for practicality. Simply select an item, make a payment, and wait for it to arrive at your registered address.

The second point to consider is related to discounts. It is common for stores to offer coupons or cash back, as part of a refund, when making online purchases. As this practice spreads, problems with this practice also arise.

It is often not possible to check whether a product actually meets the customer’s needs. For this reason, it is possible to use the right of repentance for a purchase made on the Internet. Continue reading this article to learn about the Consumer Protection Code (CDC) machine.

Right of repentance: how to use it in online purchases

First of all, it is important to clarify that the right of repentance applies differently in physical purchases and in purchases made via the Internet. In fact, the device can also be used when purchasing remotely, as in catalogs or even via phone calls.

The Consumer Protection Act understands that when making a purchase online, the customer cannot evaluate the product perfectly. There are cases where an item may not count as an outfit, for example. In other cases, it does not fully meet a person’s needs, such as furniture that does not fit the available room. Thus, a person can exchange for another product of the same value or get a refund.

The one who chooses how to proceed in this situation is the customer, not the company. But, it is necessary to pay attention to the deadline set by the CDC. The person has up to 7 days to file a complaint and request a refund. You don’t need to explain to the store why she regrets it. just ask. If the company fails to comply with the CDC, the person can move consumer protection agencies or even go to court, claiming compensation for moral and material damages.

What happens when the purchase is made in a physical store

As we explained earlier, when a customer chooses to buy physically, rather than online, the story is different. In this case, there is no right to remorse, because the CDC understands that they were able to evaluate the product. However, there are situations where you can switch.

For this, the product must be undamaged and within the warranty period. Thus, the firm will need to supply another product. Return of money occurs only in the most recent cases. In the case of clothing or shoes, some stores allow the customer to exchange parts that do not fit him. To do this, you need to check the company’s return policy.
