The electronic blackout is causing flight delays and affecting services around the world, on Friday (19). Major airlines in the United States have asked the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for a “global grounding” of all flights.

According to the Associated Press, the blackout includes Microsoft users. The Australian government said the incident appears to be linked to a global problem at cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike.

CrowdStrike confirmed in a statement that it is aware of flaws in the Windows operating system related to the Falcon sensor.

As of the latest update of this report, no problems have been reported in Brazil.

According to ABC, no American Airlines, United and Delta flights are expected to take off in the next few hours. Flights already in progress will continue. The alert includes a communication problem.

Airports in cities in Germany, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain and India said they were experiencing technical problems, with delays to check-in and take-off. In Berlin, all flights were suspended until 10 a.m. (5 a.m. in Brasilia).

Other technical issues were reported around the world. Banking and media services were affected in Australia.

In the UK, train services said they were affected and could face cancellations. Sky News said it would not be able to broadcast live. In addition, health authorities said virtual diaries used by doctors were down.

    The report is being updated.
