This Tuesday (5) begins planning for companies that will participate in four days a week from working in Brazil.
For now, about 400 employees from 20 registered companies will take part in a pilot project that will reduce their work week from 40 to 32 hours without changing their salaries.
The project is being led by corporate happiness consulting firm Reconnect Happiness at Work and 4 Day Week Global, in partnership with Boston College researchers, and will begin in December 2023 or January 2024, with an expected completion date six months later.
According to 4 Day Week Global, at Tuesday’s online meeting, the companies will get to know each other and provide agreements on legal advice, research and planning.
During three months of planning, they go through the five-day workweek until they define the strategy, whether it’s a Friday or another day off (plus Saturday and Sunday), how to communicate with clients and other stakeholders, and how to achieve that first quantitative research as well as research conversations Specificity with FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas.

The companies that participated in the pilot project to adopt the new business model have offices in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Campinas and Porto Alegre.
Currently, 20 companies have been confirmed, but the number may increase in the coming days. The companies that allowed their names to be disclosed are:

How it works

The organization is conducting studies with companies around the world to experiment with the four-day work week. The goal is to improve productivity and employee satisfaction and promote work-life balance.

The four-day-a-week project has been tested in countries such as the UK, US, Ireland and Denmark, with positive results, with increased productivity and company revenue, as well as reduced stress, anxiety and employee burnout.
Brazil, the world’s most anxious country and the second most tired, seems like an ideal place to experience the effects of reduced working hours. According to one survey, 80% of Brazilian workers suffer from symptoms of burnout syndrome.
The methodology for the four-day week will be the same as in other countries and will use the model called 100-80-100: 100% pay, 80% time, 100% productivity. Participants will receive instructions, strategies, and support for dealing with week redesign, metrics, time management, and changes in communication.
