The UK Grand Prix provided a “perfect display” of what Formula 1 was aiming to achieve with its 2022 cars and how much safer the sport has become, according to series managing director Ross Brawn.

The halo head protection system helped save Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou’s life after a major crash on the first lap, while Sunday’s race at Silverstone saw intense feuds and a thrilling overtaking.

Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won his first Formula 1 victory in the race.

“What I liked is the precision the drivers were able to get with the cars,” Brown said in a column on the Formula 1 website. “We’ve seen countless great fights that have taken place from many angles, with many changes in position.” “We’ve seen that the drivers manage to make several queues with these new cars – this allowed two, three or even four cars to ride roughly side by side. The quality was also great.”

Brown, the team principal and former technical director, said the drivers were positive about the change and being able to closely follow the cars in front without disruptions.

According to him, the race showed that the sport and the FIA had gone in the right direction with the aerodynamic rule changes introduced this season to make racing hotter and more exciting.
