The Met Gala 2023 takes place on Monday night (1). The traditional party at the Metropolitan Museum, in New York, is one of the most popular events in the world and usually brings together celebrities, who walk in elegant, glamorous, exotic, exaggerated outfits or with political messages down the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Met Gala was first held in 1948 and for decades was reserved for New York high society. Wintour, the high priestess of fashion, took over the event in 1995, turning it into a runway for the rich and famous and a social media hotspot.

The fundraising campaign will be accompanied by an exhibition at the Museum’s Costume Institute. “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” (Karl Lagerfeld: Uma Linha de Beleza) will bring together about 150 pieces by the German designer, as well as his sketches.

Actresses Penelope Cruz and Michaela Cowell, singer Dua Lipa and tennis player Roger Federer are co-hosts of the 2023 Met Gala, along with American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.
