a Azul Airlines We celebrated the arrival of another ATR 72-600 turboprop aircraft that will be integrated into the fleet. They will, in total, four planesand equipped with new Pratt & Whitney Canada engines and the capacity to seat 72 customers, marking a major advance for the company.
The first and second aircraft, with registrations PR-YXT and PR-YXA, respectively, have been in operation since January 2023, while the PR-YXB, delivered in June, will begin flying later this month. The fourth aircraft, the PR-YXC, in turn, will arrive at the company in the next few days and is expected to start operations in August.
According to Rafael Linares, Azul Fleet Manager, the aircraft is equipped with the new PW127XT-M engine, which is Reduce maintenance costs by up to 20%. The role of ATRs in the development of regional aviation
According to Azul, ATRs, along with Cessna Grand Caravan model aircraft, are strategic for the development of regional aviation. Because of their size, turboprops are easy to land on smaller airports and shorter runways, and are not suitable for airplanes. Plus, since they’re low, they actually have an interior ladder built into the door. From a business standpoint, ATRs work on routes with fewer customers and allow for the growth of new markets.
