As of July 1st of this year FGTS The Service Time Guarantee Fund will implement significant changes to the rules relating to birthday withdrawals. This method, which gives workers the option to withdraw part of the available balance in their FGTS account annually during their birthday month, will undergo a significant update.

For those who want to take advantage of the birthday withdrawal next year, the deadline to make the choice ends on June 30, 2024. Anyone who misses this period will have to wait until 2025 to make a new choice. The changes come into effect for beneficiaries who have a birthday in July, and the amount withdrawn will be determined by a gradual schedule.

What are the changes to the FGTS Birthday draw rules?

FGTS has created a new table of rates and balance ranges to calculate the withdrawal value. This schedule is designed to better suit workers' needs, providing greater flexibility in managing their money.

    FGTS 2024 Birthday Draw Schedule:

    • Up to R$500.00: Tax rate 50%
    • From 500.01 BRL to 1000.00 BRL: Rate 40% plus additional R$50.00
    • From 1000.01 BRL to 5000.00 BRL: 30% rate plus additional R$150.00
    • From R$5,000.01 to R$10,000.00: Rate of 20% plus additional R$650.00
    • From R$10,000.01 to R$15,000.00: Rate of 15% plus an additional R$1,150.00
    • From R$15,000.01 to R$20,000.00: Rate of 10% plus additional R$1,900.00
    • More than 20,000.01 Brazilian Real: Rate of 5% plus additional R$2,900.00

How to choose and benefit from the new FGTS base?

The birthday withdrawal method must be chosen directly in the official FGTS application. It is essential that workers carry out this process within the specified deadline, thus ensuring the right of withdrawal next year. With the selection period ending in June this year, the next opportunity will not arise until 2025.
